Homegrown in Austin, Barrio Pop Studio is a Latinx-led creative studio bringing art, scent, and community together through exhibitions, handcrafted candles, and public programs—with culture and everyday rituals at the heart.

We turn everyday rituals and cultural memories into scent.
Our handcrafted candles draw from the textures of Latinx life: agua frescas, kitchen tables, botanicals, and familiar places. Hand-poured in small batches in Austin, each fragrance brings a story into your home.

Waking Dream: Contemporary Art and Neuroaesthetics

Waking Dream brings together contemporary artworks that explore home, the creative self, vulnerability, and resilience. Moving between the conscious and unconscious, reality and fantasy, the artists give form to the memories and imagined worlds that shape our sense of self.
Neuroaesthetics informs our curatorial approach, inviting us to consider how materials, images, and space shape perception and emotional response. We invite visitors to look closely and bring their own experiences into conversation with the work.
Presented by Barrio Pop Studio at Quimera Gallery, Waking Dream continues our commitment to bringing people together through art and shared inquiry. The building’s history of Black entrepreneurship, food, and community care grounds this gathering in East Austin, where we make space to reflect on home, creativity, and what sustains us through change.

Hosted by Carlos Moreno, Director of Barrio Pop Studio, and award-winning chef Erik Sarabia
Art to Table brings guests together for a shared meal surrounded by contemporary art. Presented during Waking Dream, the supper club extends the exhibition’s exploration of home, memory, and connection through food and conversation.
A curated, family-style menu features empanadas, vegetarian and pescatarian dishes, alongside two specialty cocktails. The evening welcomes 15 guests to share plates, meet new people, and spend time with the exhibition.
